What is the Gospel?
At APBC, we believe that the Gospel is the God-centered story of how God reconciles man to himself through Christ, for the glory of God and the joy of all peoples. The basic message of the Gospel is broken down into four major categories that tell God's story to the world.
How did this all begin?
In the beginning, God created everything. The pinnacle of His creation was man. Man was the only created being that was made in the image of God. All that God created was good and revealed His glory.
Man sinned by rebelling against God's one command not to eat from a particular tree. Man believed satan's lie and chose to eat from that tree. Through one man's disobedience, sin entered the world and into every human heart. The image of God that man once reflected is now distorted, and his fellowship with God is now broken. Everyone is guilty and condemned before God.
What did God do to make things right?
Jesus, who is God in human flesh, came to buy his people back from their bondage to sin through his death and resurrection. The only payment that could satisfy God's justice was His own death. Therefore, he came to earth in human form. By faith alone in Jesus which leads to turning away from sin, all who are separated from God can have their sins forgiven, be counted righteous, and enjoy eternal life with Him.
What do we have to look forward to?
One day, God will restore everything to the way it was supposed to be. Those who reject God will spend eternity paying the penalty for their sins in a real place called Hell. Those who trust in Jesus will enjoy eternity with God in the new heaven and new earth.
